Description

RI’s comprehensive curriculum, created by peer support advocate and author, Lisa St. George, is based on the best practices toolkit provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and published as:  National Guidelines for Behavioral Health Crisis Care, Best Practices Toolkit. Lisa brought together subject matter experts from all domains of the behavioral health field including peers with lived experience, social services professionals, and medical experts in the recovery field.

Virtual Instructor-led Training (VILT), Homework, Exercises and Grades in Canvas 

Learning Objectives  

  • Define mental health crisis 

  • Identify four roles on an interdisciplinary team 

  • Relate the core elements of a crisis system 

  • Identify four principles of MI 

  • Name three aspects of suicide intervention 

  • Compare de-escalation methods 

  • Define the role of peer support in crisis intervention 

  • Identify 3 problem areas in provider boundaries

Attendees are encouraged to present the certificate of completion to their State Peer Certification Board for eligibility.  

Technical Requirements  

Each applicant must have access to an internet-connected computer equipped with a functional webcam, microphone, and speakers that can all remain in use throughout the entirety of training.  

Participants will also need access to the Zoom app. If you do not have the Zoom app installed, Zoom will step you through the process once you click on the link.  Please Note: Use of cell phones or tablets may not afford the individual the ability to see the presentation or the chat. 

Registration Fee: $350 (If your employer or another funder is paying for your class, please do not proceed to payment at this time. You will receive an email from our administrative staff explaining how to register for this course. If you submit your payment and subsequently need a refund, please note, refunds may take up to two weeks to process.)
