Peers in Crisis Care Services is a comprehensive 40-hour training for Certified Peer Specialists.
Recovery Innovations, as lead writers of the Crisis Now Model, has brought together the same experts who helped shape national crisis system design to collaboratively develop this training. Grounded in the SAMHSA National Guidelines for Behavioral Health Crisis Care: Best Practices Toolkit, this curriculum reflects the highest standards in the field and translates them into practical application.
This training was co-developed by a multidisciplinary group of subject matter experts—including peer support specialists with lived experience, clinicians, behavioral health leaders, and medical professionals—ensuring it is both evidence-based and grounded in real-world practice. The result is a comprehensive, person-centered learning experience that equips individuals and organizations across all roles to respond effectively, build stronger crisis systems, and improve outcomes for the people they serve.

Type of Training/who for: This training is meant for those who have completed their Certified Peer Support training and are considering or beginning a career in Crisis Care Services. This course can also be useful for those who work in Crisis Care Services and are interested in incorporating current best practices into their work.

Each applicant must have access to an internet-connected computer equipped with a functional webcam, microphone, and speakers that can all remain in use throughout the entirety of training.
