Our "Supporting People in Difficult Situations" training is designed specifically for Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSSs) working in behavioral health. This course equips you with the tools and skills needed to create a safe, compassionate environment where individuals can openly discuss sensitive topics. By focusing on effective communication, active listening, and trauma-informed approaches, you’ll learn how to build trust and support individuals facing complex challenges. Whether it's managing crises, navigating difficult emotions, or addressing personal barriers, this training prepares CPSSs to offer meaningful support in a way that empowers while maintaining a respectful, non-judgmental space for conversation.

Virtual Instructor-led Training (VILT) 

Learning Objectives 

  • Create a safe environment to talk about:
    •        Loss and Grief
    •        Trauma
    •        Suicide
  • Apply communication skills to support people experiencing challenges
  • Practice self-awareness to maintain personal well-being

Anyone who is working in the behavioral health field.

Technical Requirements 

Each applicant must have access to an internet-connected computer equipped with a functional webcam, microphone, and speakers that can all remain in use throughout the entirety of training.
